The City of Tecumseh's Economic Development Department was created in 1996 after a comprehensive analysis of Tecumseh's commercial markets was conducted in 1995. The recommended strategy and development guide based on this analysis were tailored to enable Tecumseh's three primary business districts to complement each other as they develop and grow in the future. Today, the Economic Development Department consists of a staff of three: Director, Marketing Coordinator, and Office Supervisor. The Economic Development "Team" works in cooperation with the Downtown Development Authority, the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce, the Central Business Association and Lenawee Tomorrow to continually improve and enhance Tecumseh's business districts through the implementation of the Economic Enhancement Strategy.
